FULANI HERDSMEN: 20 QUESTIONS CRYING FOR ANSWERS

FULANI HERDSMEN OR ARMED MEN: 20 QUESTIONS CRYING FOR ANSWERS

Written by MIKEL AYODEJI FADEYI

According to Wikipedia, “Fulani herdsmen or Fulani pastoralists are nomadic or semi nomadic Fulani herders whose primary occupation is raising livestock. The pure Fulani pastoralist engages in random movement of cattle while the semi-nomadic makes transhumance migration and return to their camps or homes”.

Before now, everything was going smoothly in areas where these herdsmen are found. But the devil came visiting and mayhem became the order of the day.

On February 7, 2018, The Officer-in-Charge of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Saki Unit in Oyo State Police Command, was killed by Fulani herdsmen in a forest on the Saki-Ogbooro Road in Oke-Ogun area of the state.
On February 4, 2018, the Indigenous Tiv communities in Nassarawa State lamented that their people in Kadarko, Keana Local Government Area of the state have been rendered homeless, as 25 villages of the area have been sacked by herdsmen.
On January 2, 2018, 70 lives were lost when Fulani herdsmen attacked Tse Igbudu Taraka in Benue State.

As a result of this sour tales, I’ve come up with 20 questions crying for answers regarding the menace of the Fulani herdsmen:
  1. What is the root cause of these attacks?
  2. What are the domino effects of these endless killings?
  3. What measurable steps are our security agencies taking to curb this menace?
  4. What is the president doing about it?
  5. Where are the traditional rulers of affected areas?
  6. What are the spiritual leaders contributing?
  7.  Should the head of cattle breeders be held culpable?
  8.  Is there a political undertone to these attacks?
  9.    Is it a tribal war in disguise?
  10.  Is this an ongoing reprisal attacks?
  11.   What role is the Minister of Agriculture playing?
  12.   What role is the Minister of Communication playing?
  13.   What roles are journalists playing?
  14.   What will happen if we decide to ban the Fulani herdsmen from moving cattle around?
  15.   Who gave the herdsmen permit to carry guns and ammunitions?
  16.  Why is it taking so much time to end this crisis?
  17.  What roles are international communities playing?
  18. Who is more dangerous, Boko Haram or the herdsmen?
  19. Why is Nigeria always troubled by the Northerners
  20. WHO’S NEXT???

  1. Very interesting article. Corruption and fighting is happening all over this world. We as a people need to seek the face of God as Daniel did. Daniel prayed a prayer of confession for his people. It’s satan job to steal, kill and destroy and him and his imps are doing just that. We have to collective do the same for this universe.
